Hi Mandy, I'm an artist at heart and I have books full of sketches and ideas that I have scribbled over the years. I love your idea of revsiting them years later as there is often gold amongst them.....seeds in their raw form that a younger you planted perhaps for when a future you was ready to see them bloom. Thank you for reminding us of the beauty that exists in what looks like disorder. 🙏
My husband is a gatherer, but he also loves looking through the things he gathers.
I’m the complete opposite: I neither like looking at the past, nor do I keep much that reminds me of it. There is a pencil case and a total of maybe 100 photos that prove I ever existed before becoming a mother < and that never used to bother me.
Now, as my kids get older, I’m realising how nice it would be to be able to pull something out of a box and go “this is from when I was your age/liked the same thing you like/did a similar thing to what your going through now”, much like their dad can do.
I’m learning to let go of the shame, and say the thing out loud, so I can properly examine it ❤️ who knows: maybe I’ll start keeping things again.
